NEWS RELEASE – SCOTTSDALE, AZ – May 22nd, 2008 - Abby Bella Dance Studio debuted in Scottsdale with a launch event on Friday evening, May 16th. The studio celebrated with new students, instructors, neighbors and special guests.
The event featured performances in belly dancing, Zumba, then a memorable hip hop finale by Arizona’s notorious dance troupe, Foot Klan, all of which included energy-filled crowd participation.
To help celebrate, Cedric Ceballos of NBA fame was on hand, serving as thecelebrity DJ, as well as Richard Sabellico, noted Broadway director and actor and Jay Glazer, top sports “insider” (voted Sport Illustrated’s 2007 Media Person of the Year). Scottsdale Mayor, Mary Manross joined the mix and welcomed the unique studio to Scottsdale, expressing her optimism of its success. Eats and drinks were provided by neighbor, Marco’s Italian Bistro as well as Tango Grill and Hana’s Cafe.
“The energy and support far exceeded our expectations and we’re so excited to have it continue in our classes” says Teresa Paul Daie, director and proprietor of Abby Bella Dance Studios.
The Special Olympics of Arizona was represented at the event and will begin what they are calling a test-pilot with Abby Bella, encouraging Special Olympians to engage in dance. They are partnering with the studio, with its programs and modifications for special-needs dancers. “We believe by taking part in dance with Abby Bella, Special Olympians will have yet another great way to enhance their lives,” states Tom Fraker, Executive Director of the Special Olympics of Arizona.
The modern-elegant studio was designed by Norma Escandon Michaels of NM Interiors Group, LLC, with furniture from Ozzie’s, St. Vincent de Paul’s home furnishings boutique which benefits Arizona’s homeless and working poor.
